360 & Shoot Drill for Youth Wrestlers!
Youth wrestlers ages 6-13 aren’t Champion athletes… yet.
They are “young athletes”… and this should always be kept at the back of any parent of coach’s mind.
In order to keep a consistent and optimal growth and development of the CNS (Central Nervous System) that helps maximize their abilities as “total athletes” it can be necessary to not “over-specialize”… the point at which kids are injured through repetition of drills.
For this reason, I like to add in a little “twist” to traditional sport-specific skills. In this exercise we have the young wrestler jump up and spin around in a 360 before landing and then executing a shadow takedown.
