Eat THIS After a Wrestling Tournament
A wrestling tournament can turn out to be a long, tiring day…
If you’re one of the finalists it can be even longer! Multiple matches plus time in between, making weight, travel etc can leave a wrestler feeling worn-out and fatigued.
This can really use up a lot of nervous energy… the same energy supply that you need to wrestle, lift weights, walk, talk, breathe…
If you don’t do something to replenish your nervous energy, you wind up overtrained. Chronic overtraining leads to diminished wrestling performance plus injuries.
A quick nutrition tip that can help you replenish your muscle glycogen and stunt the catabolic state that your body can enter after a tournament, is to eat a good post-tournament meal:
Post-Tournament Recovery Chow
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup whipped cottage cheese
• 2 cups Organic Banilla yogurt
• 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
• 1 sliced banana
• 1/2 cup mixed frozen raspberries/blueberries/strawberries
• 1/2 cup Total cereal
Directions:
An hour after finishing your recovery shake, you should consume a meal containing a 1:2 ratio of protein to carbs, with limited fat. This meal will help you replenish your muscle glycogen and assist with your recovery process.
It is one of my favorites. You can also use it after strength training during the Offseason for recovery and to stunt the catabolic state that your body is in after you strength train.
