How To Be An Olympic Champion – A Tip From Cael Sanderson!
I recently caught up with Cael Sanderson for a half hour phone interview…
We discussed things like technique, conditioning, mind-set, nutrition and setting up wrestling practices for success.
There were a number of ‘gems’ in this interview…
One thing that I found really intriguing was his tip for becoming an Olympic Gold Medalist…
When he first arrived at Iowa State as a freshman, he asked his Coach what it would take to become an Olympic Champion…
His Coach told him to do 50 pullups every day! So he did…
I’m not sure if it was the “commitment” of doing 50 pullups every single day that made the difference or the strength gained in the biceps and lats that made the difference. But Cael told me that he did this faithfully, and felt as if it really put him on the path towards reaching his goal.
He also told me that you perform as many sets as necessary in order to reach 50 reps. When he started he could only do 10 sets of 5 reps to reach 50. But over time he reached a point where he could crank out over 30 pullups at a time!
That’s insane!!
So… if it’s good enough for the World’s Top Wrestler, it’s good enough for the rest of us.
Give it a try and let me know on here how many you did and how many sets it takes to reach 50!

Great tip that just goes to show you- it’s as much about the work you put in as the advice you have!
